VIOLIN
The most important of the orchestral stringed instruments. It is widely used, both as a solo instrument and in ensembles, ranging in size from the string trio to the symphony orchestra. The smallest, hightest-pitched of the mordern stringed instruments, the violin is valued principally for its brilliant tone and its wide range of expression.
